What runners say
Setting off from Seville at dawn and arriving at the Sanctuary of El Rocío after 68 km inside Doñana is something you never forget. It's not just a race — it's a journey through one of the wildest places in Europe.
Why it's special
68 km from Seville to the Sanctuary of El Rocío, through the heart of Doñana National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
What's around
The Doñana Trail Marathon takes place on 7 November, starting from Parque Vega de Triana in Seville and finishing at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of El Rocío in Almonte. Now in its twelfth edition, it is one of the great classics of the Andalusian calendar, with nearly 700 runners registered each year. The 68 km course winds through the trails of Doñana National Park: one of the most inaccessible places in Europe, normally closed to the public, which the race opens once a year to runners and teams. Dunes, marshlands, pine forests and a biodiversity found nowhere else on earth. The race can be run solo, in pairs, or as a team of 3 to 4 people. It is organised by OF Sport, with the support of the municipalities involved and the Diputación de Huelva, in an event that combines sport, landscape and genuine environmental responsibility.
