What runners say
I didn't expect such a well-organised race in a city I'd never thought of as a running destination. Every detail was considered, and running with the sea beside you makes every effort worth it.
Why it's special
A marathon on the Costa del Sol with 320 days of sunshine a year and the Mediterranean as your backdrop.
What's around
Estepona sits in the heart of the Costa del Sol, less than an hour from Málaga Airport, one of southern Europe's main international hubs. Privileged climate, modern infrastructure, kilometres of Mediterranean coastline: the conditions to run well are all there. The city has invested heavily in quality of life and outdoor sport, and is now one of the most well-kept destinations on the Andalusian coast. Wide range of accommodation, from boutique hotels to seafront resorts. It hasn't yet entered the European runner's imagination as a running destination. But the conditions — climate, route, logistics — are hard to beat.
