What runners say
Running through the colourful façades of Gdańsk's Old Town with the Baltic just a few streets away is one of those experiences that makes you realise how much running is also a way of travelling.
Why it's special
A half marathon in the heart of Gdańsk, where the Hanseatic city's history meets the Baltic Sea. A 5 km night race, a 21 km course and kids' races: a complete weekend.
What's around
The Półmaraton Gdański runs through the centre of Gdańsk, one of the most fascinating cities on the Baltic: the Old Town with its colourful façades, the Neptune Fountain, St. Mary's Basilica and the Motława quays with the medieval Żuraw crane. A course that crosses centuries of history with the sea as backdrop. Two formats: the 21 km half marathon for those who want the classic distance, and a 5 km night race for those who want to experience the city after dark with the lights on. There are also kids' and juniors' courses, making the event perfect for a family weekend. Outside Poland it's practically unknown. And yet Gdańsk is one of the most beautiful and historically rich cities in Europe — and running through it is one of the best ways to discover it.
