What runners say
Running on the Island of Giglio with the Mediterranean on both sides and the Tuscan Archipelago islands on the horizon is one of those experiences that don't fit into any ranking. You're not running a race — you're crossing an island.
Why it's special
The first road race on the Island of Giglio: a 100% scenic half marathon through authentic villages, unspoilt nature and crystal-clear sea, with views of Elba, Montecristo, Giannutri and Monte Argentario.
What's around
The Island of Giglio is one of the most beautiful islands in the Tuscan Archipelago: small, authentic, with a medieval village perched on the hillside, hidden coves and some of the clearest water in the Mediterranean. Until now it had never hosted a road race. This is the first edition. The course is entirely scenic: constant ups and downs, with the sea always in sight from both sides of the island. Looking out to the horizon you can see the islands of Montecristo, Elba and Giannutri, Monte Argentario and the Tuscan coast. This is not a fast race — it is a beautiful one, designed for those who want to live an experience, not just run a time. Outside Tuscany it is practically unknown. And yet running on an island this small and this unspoilt, reachable only by ferry, is something very few European runners have ever done.
