What runners say
Running the Jean Bouin means being part of something that has lasted over a century. When you cross Montjuïc Park, you feel the weight of history beneath your feet — and that's not a metaphor.
Why it's special
Spain's oldest race: since 1920, every year in Barcelona. 103 editions, 20,000 participants and an atmosphere no other city race can replicate.
What's around
The Jean Bouin was founded in 1920 by a group of sports journalists who wanted to bring an urban race to Barcelona similar to the Grand Prix Lemmonier in Paris. It has never stopped since — not even during the Civil War — and is today the longest-running athletics competition in all of Spain outside the official championships. The course has been held in Montjuïc Park since 1973, finishing along the Passeig de Sant Joan and the Arc de Triomf, where the finish line stood for over 40 years. The 103rd edition takes place on 29 November 2026, with two open distances: 5 km and 10 km. Outside Catalonia the race is almost unknown: communication is mainly in Catalan and Spanish, international visibility is minimal. And yet this is one of the most historically rich races in Europe, capable of drawing 20,000 runners to the start line.
