What runners say
I never imagined running could take me somewhere so remote and wild: flamingos just meters away, pink salt flats, free-roaming horses. It felt like a dream — and yet you were racing.
Why it's special
A once-a-year opportunity: this Natural Park opens its doors only during race day.
What's around
The Gran Raid de la Camargue is a truly unique experience: once a year, runners gain access to a protected natural reserve in the heart of the French Camargue. The race starts among wild horses, crosses pink salt flats, private beaches and rocky embankments, brings you face to face with flamingos, and finishes inside a traditional Camargue arena — with the podium waiting, perhaps next to the Arlésiennes. A surprising format, less straightforward than it looks. Born from a collaboration with Salins du Midi, the city of Arles and the main natural park authorities of the region (Parc Naturel Régional, Natura 2000, Réserve de Biosphère and others), the race follows a strict eco-responsibility charter. Sport, nature and sustainability go hand in hand here: eco-mobility, eco-attitude, sport-health initiatives and full inclusion for para-athletes are all part of the DNA of this one-of-a-kind event.
