What runners say
Running through Ravenna's mosaics with centuries of history all around is something you don't expect from a marathon. You're not just running a race — you're crossing one of the most beautiful and least known places in Europe.
Why it's special
A marathon through eight UNESCO World Heritage monuments: early Christian and Byzantine mosaics, millennia-old streets and Romagna hospitality at every turn. Three distances: 10 km, 21 km and 42 km.
What's around
The Ravenna Marathon runs through the heart of one of Italy's most extraordinary cities: eight UNESCO World Heritage monuments in a compact historic centre, where early Christian and Byzantine mosaics adorn basilicas and mausoleums dating back to the age of Rome and Byzantium. Every kilometre is a leap through time. Three distances — 42 km, 21 km and 10 km — all built around the city's artistic heritage. During the event days, participants can visit partner museums for free (or at reduced price) by showing their race bib: a marathon that becomes a way to discover the city. A few kilometres from the centre lie the sea, pine forests and nature trails. Ravenna isn't just a race — it's a full weekend, for those who run and those who come along for the ride.
