What runners say
Crossing the finish line in Piazza Duomo with the Neptune Fountain ahead and the Dolomites in the background is one of those images that are worth the trip on their own. Trento is a city many runners visit once — and then come back to.
Why it's special
An almost entirely flat half marathon in the heart of Trento: starting from Piazza Dante, finishing on the cobblestones of Piazza Duomo, with the Neptune Fountain as the finish line. Also 10 km and family courses.
What's around
The Trento Half Marathon — known to insiders as the Trento Running Festival — takes place entirely in the Trento metropolitan area, starting from Piazza Dante and finishing in Piazza Duomo. The course is an almost flat loop through the city's most beautiful areas: Torre Vanga, the modern Albere district with the science museum designed by Renzo Piano, and the medieval historic centre. Two competitive distances — 21 km and 10 km — plus a 5 km walk open to everyone and races for children from age 2. The weekend also includes the Trentino Wellness Expo with concerts, entertainment and the Trento Guest Card for discounted access to castles, museums and public transport. Trento is one of the most beautiful and least known cities in northern Italy: the Castello del Buonconsiglio, the Roman archaeological site of Tridentum beneath Piazza Cesare Battisti, the Orrido di Ponte Alto gorge and the Trento DOC — a sparkling wine produced by the traditional method in the valley's cellars.
